Client Background

Our client, Mel Dundas, requested that our team create an autonomous aquarium submarine. Our project is sponsored by Camosun College. We greatly appreciate the idea provided by Mel Dundas and the funds provided by Camosun College.

Project Description

The autonomous aquarium submarine is a fish-like device that independently explores and navigates an aquarium, behaving much like a fish. This project takes advantage the small form factors and energy saving capabilities currently incorporated into modern electronics. The autonomous aquarium submarine is powered using inductive coupling and stores energy using an ultra capacitor. The submarine avoids the sides of the aquarium by means of echo sounding and an ultra efficient PIC microcontroller. The working prototype of our submarine was completed on a budget of $250.
