D.R. systems inc. is a team of highly qualified forestry consultants, GIS analysts and software developers, with offices in Nanaimo, B.C. and Enumclaw, Washington. D.R. systems help forest industry clients improve the profitability and sustainability of their woodlands through the creation of software unique to the forest industry.
The Timber Cruising Data-Collection Application for the Windows CE platform will fit into the DR Systems current software library. It will allow foresters in the field to use a Pocket PC to enter and edit data as measurements are taken.
The main purpose of the project is to design a user interface that will allow for easy entry and editing of the data. Additional functionality, like specialized Software Input Panels and data storage will be implemented.
The challenge will be in developing what DR Systems deems an easy to learn and use interface that allows easy navigation for a large data set - on the small screen of the Pocket PC. The Pocket PC format does not have a keyboard; therefore the Pocket PC’s display area is shared between viewing and data entry keyboard functions.
